I
am a practising witch, part-time artist (Cert. Design
and Illustration) and full-time Librarian (MLIS). I live
in New Zealand, Manawatu, which is bordered by two beautiful
mountain ranges, the Ruahines and the Tararuas. I derive
a lot of my inspiration from these ranges and the forest
and wildlife they host. I am living in a blessed part
of the world, where peace reigns and where the goddess
is alive and well!
Wicca
to me is a feeling and a knowing; it is also a way of
life and a "safe" way of channelling energy.
I am particularly interested in experiencing Wicca through
nature - I regard nature in a pantheistic way: where gods
and goddesses, spirits and other beings reside in every
animate and in- animate thing. I also believe in the guardianship
and guidance of the God and Goddess whom I believe act
as one in the Universe. I understand and communicate with
all of these forces: through my artwork and sculpture,
through nature and observation and through my dreams and
meditations. I regard the power of the God and Goddess
as both beautiful and dangerous and I never treat them
with anything but respect. We musn't forget that there
are dark aspects to the One that we must understand in
a wider context: a volcano, for example, can cause wide
spread destruction when it erupts, but after the eruption,
the soils are richer and new life springs forth. Life
and death, creation and destruction are inextricably woven.
Wicaa, through my own understanding, acknowledges these
two forces and does not separate them. There are no polarities
in Wicca. When life is viewed in this way it becomes easier
to weather the bad and celebrate the good - knowing that
the two are entwined and ever-evolving.
I
am still learning about Wicca - its theory and its practice.
If you are new or old to Wicca, you will understand that
there is so much to learn! I am proud to call myself a
Witch and at times I am terrified to do so! Wicca has
attracted its fair share of detractors through the ages
and it continues to do so in this new millenium. My advice
to you is to know thyself and thy past and understand
your future. Wicca is a balanced and natural way of life,
it is compassionate and fair BUT it is only as effective
as its practioners.
Blessed
Be to you all!
